Writing dozens of thank you cards can be exhausting. Here are exact templates you can use for gifts, money, and attendance to make the process faster and more genuine.
"Thank you so much for the generous graduation gift! I’m putting it toward my savings for my next step. I really appreciate you thinking of me."
"Thank you so much for the generous graduation gift! I’m putting it toward my moving expenses for my new apartment. I really appreciate you thinking of me during this milestone."
"It meant the world to me that you were able to make it to my graduation. Thank you so much for being there to celebrate with me and for always supporting me."
"Mom and Dad, I literally couldn't have crossed that stage without you. Thank you for the endless support, the late-night advice, and for believing in me. I love you."
"Thank you for all your guidance and support during my time here. Your classes and advice really shaped my path, and I'm incredibly grateful for your mentorship."
"Thank you so much for thinking of me on my graduation! I really appreciate your kind words and the generous gift. Hope to see you soon!"
If they gave a physical gift or mailed a check, a handwritten card is the polite standard. If they sent a digital gift card or just a text congratulating you, a warm text or email back is fine.
Don't mention the specific amount. Say "Thank you for the generous gift" and tell them briefly what you plan to do with it (e.g., saving for a car, moving expenses, a post-grad trip).
Aim for within two to three weeks of graduation or receiving the gift. However, a late thank you is always better than no thank you at all.
